I've been wanting one for awhile, but bring myself to spend the money on one. So I decided to build one. One problem..I've never welded before, so with the help of my friend Steve we got started. It was interesting working right on 88(neither of us have a garage) The two issues with it that I'm not thrilled about is that the bottom tube warped, and the latch was interesting to figure out, but I'll live with it. Overall for my first real project I think it turned out pretty well.

Did the tube spring up on the latch side? Mine did the same thing when I built it.

Yeah You can see it comes straight to the middle then bends up towards the latch side.

yep same problem. I was mad enough I damn near scrapped it all and started from scratch.

it looks damn good though....things like that are always going to warp unless they are jigged up and clamped down super tight

Nice. At least you had a fire station across the street for your first welding experience!

Yeah I was waiting for the cops to stop. A guy on a motorcycle almost rear ended a car because he wanted to see what we where doing.

Thanks guys.

Looks good! It should hold up great from what I can tell. You're a step ahead of me in the welding dept.
