Picked up an XJ a while back to build for the GF. Decided it was going to be more work than I would get done anytime soon. Picked up this TJ (99) a couple of weeks ago. Has a factory Dana 44 out back, 4.0L 5 speed. Here is what I have planned for it so far. 4:88 gears to replace the 3:73's. Aussie lockers. Picked up some used 35" MTR's for it. Adjustable control arms, 1.25" body lift. Tummy tuck skid, it has a TC drop now. SYE and double cardan DS. Ordered a Dodge Durango steeering box (Snow plow model) to replace the leaking stocker. Exhaust system is trashed (rust). I got all the parts in, so its time to get to work. I'm thinking about selling the hard top, its in very good condition. Anybody know what it's worth? Here are some pics.

nice little ride...honestly i wouldnt bother changing those gears right away, my tj has a 4.0 and 373 or 305's (i cant remember) while it lags a little going uphill i can still rocket up a hill in 4th at about 60 mph (if i get a run for it) on 33's. you oughta be able to sell that hardtop for 700-900 bucks, ive seen cj and yj hard tops for about 500 or less, tj hard tops are a little harder to find though.

Brandon......Thanks for the info. I'm going to go with the 4:88's though. I have 4:56's w/33's in my XJ and the difference is night and day. I'm also afraid of detonation lugging the motor with the 3:73's

oh i dont blame you, if you already had them i'd say go for it, but im a cheap bastard and i'll suffer through it until something happens and then i have to replace it

Just for the record, I've been running 4.88s with 33s for a long while and thought it was perfect. I just went to 35's and can't tell a difference. I think it might be a little better though with the 35's as far as 4th gear goes.
