any opinions on this bike? i'm about to pull the trigger on a used one. Only bummer is it was a test bike so it's purple (not a normal color for them).

super nice shape, looks barely ridden. any thoughts on this bike?

The stumpjumper is one of my favorite bikes, I believe that bike had the brain rear shock, which is pretty sick also. What is the price? They sold for right around the 3k range. The Talas fork is real nice for long climbs also.

yup, brain rear shock, talas front with adjustable height, XT cranks, X0 deraileur, X9 shifters, Juicy 7's (new style), dt swiss wheels, etc.

1800 but its almost perfect. no wear on the crank arms or anything give a pretty good clue that it hasn't been ridden much. plus it comes with a warrenty since it was bought from a LBS.

Only bummer is it's purple! lol

There's also a remedy 5 at scholls on sale for 1200 bucks brand new... but i'm leaning towards the FSR.

That was the other thing I liked about the specialized, they came with shimano cranks. No other chainrings out there shift as well as shimano. Are you buying it from Scholls? That color purple was not a bad color either. 1800 is a pretty sweet deal.

Personally I am not a big fan of shimano. I'd much rather run Sram on my bikes. They take more abuse as far as i've seen. Most of the racers who come in the shop i work at run sram. although the one guy does run grip-shifts on his race bike

Dirty Harry's has it. it's in the back with my name on it. I paid off my trek card like 2 days ago, so once that clears i'm going to run up and start charging on it again lol. Prolly pay it back off with the tax return. It looked pretty spec'd out for the $. i just figured i would see what you thought :)

some of those SRAM cranks are made by truvative... I'm not really a fan. I've killed 2 so far. One i actually seperated the ringside crank from the body.

Shifter/deraileur wise i'm a SRAM fan. This has X0 rear and X9 shifters, so i've got that covered.

I was just talking about the chainrings, well the front derailuer also. That is what the stumjumper has. Sram makes great triggers and rear derailuers.

x2, no more loop of spare cable. I love how Sram keeps it tight to the bike.

Have you seen the new shimano shadow stuff? No big loop, direct cable pull and your quick release end is the furthest thing that sticks out. It is pretty sweet.
This der is positioned in the lowest cog:

looks decent, but im sure it costs more than sram stuff that comes low profile from the start. SRAM>Shimano

Same rear derailure I run on my 29er.

that pic of the SRAM der is in one of it's largest cogs. Not a fair comparison.

Here is a pic comparing it to a regular Shitmano derailuer. I am not saying the Sram suck, just saying this is pretty cool. I still think sram shifts better. I think this is pretty cool because you are less likely to wipe it off on a rock. I also like that the cable it's self goes straight in and does not have to go around a litle shark fin.
