View Full Version : 97+ Steel Taillights for an XJ

I've had these done since April, but never really got around to taking any pictures of how they turned out. But since a few people have asked for the pictures/the end result, here they are...


I started with a Pro/E drawing to get the angles right and figure out how much sheet metal I was going to need. (sorry for the crappy background, it doesnt export screen caps very well.)

Overall, im pretty happy with how they turned out. There are some things I would do differently if I were to do them over again (which is a possibility), but they work for now.

And no, I didnt really have a "need" to do these, I just had a week off school and needed some kind of project to do. In the future if I redo them, I may incorporte in some side armor panels like the THOR guards have....but im still not sure I want to bolt that much metal over my perfectly good sheetmetal right now.

Those look nicer than the 1-piece bent stainless jobs I made.

Sorry Jay, i've been busy with work lately!!

As far as price, id have to get a price on material/etc. I can tell you that they're not cheap. I spent allllllllllot of money just on the lights/wiring alone. :paranoid:

Would you want the side panel guards like the THOR setup?

Those look great! If I were you id start making them to sell. Even just the boxes and let the buyer get his own lights. Id buy a set.
