So, Ridgerunner and I have been talking about a traction bar setup on my Scout to attempt to eliminate some wheel hop. Curious what anyones thoughts are on this. How will this affect articulation. He thinks and it makes sense to me that settin the bars close to the center of the axle would still allow articulation. Any thoughts on this would be great. The scout has leafs at all four corners it is stiff as hell and I did a spring over axle conversion for the lift. Thanks.

Mount it as close to the pumpkin as possible and youll be fine with a good setup.

I think a good bit of people run Sams traction bar on the scouts.

if your concerned about wheelhop, make sure you find your rigs balance point & locate the traction bars mount just behind that point.

Like you said keep it close to the center.

I built this base/slider for a tj to fit a SOLID axle ind. LP44 and AEV (formerly Nth degree) lift system. The nth traction bar/3rd link uses a rod end and a bushing for the shackle end.

I plan on using this same method for my truck ( leaf springs)
pretty much the same theory as the tube mount traction bar different mounting.

Not to hi-jack the thread, but is there a track bar in that setup (I don't see one)? If not, what is preventing side to side movement?

I see one. This is the like the Highlights books from being a kid. Hunt for the track bar.

You could build them out of the tractor parts that Ridgerunner was talking about for his control arms. I built some for a pulling truck years ago out of 3 point hitch arms and never had a problem with them.

maybe its just me, but this appears to be a linked rear...whats the point of the traction bar?? the links should prevent/control all axle movement....

always broke

In this setup its the 3rd link in a 3 link. Its just an example of what a traction bar/antiwrap/bambar/torque arm set up could look like.

The traction bar is the 3rd link.
It's in the quote as "traction bar/3rd link"
There are no upper links, you may be seeing the track bar tower.

another related question, is it better to mount the bar on the same side of the axle as the "power wheel" or the non power wheel(ofcourse wont apply to trucks with a locker), and is there anypoint to run traction bars front and back?

best bet is to truss the axle and tie the bar into the truss otherwise you run the risk of spinning the centersection. happened to me when i first put it in.

if it isnt locked, it has a differential meaning that the "power wheel" could be either depending on load on the wheels.

Lower links locate axle fore & aft due to the 3rd link not allowing any rotation.

i get it, the more i look at it... so its basically a one-link, with extra control arms....with pretty much a u-bolt holding it to the axle tube.... not a big fan of that, but w/e

Um... no

If you click the link in post 7, the mounting points are apparent I don't lay it out step by step or give every detail but there is pics
It's mimicked from this...

there are printable instructions that show mounting also
it's basically the same setup.
If you had questions about the system you can contact this guy
he was very helpful.
