AtoZFabrication.com heavy duty tire carrier hinge - $50
1/4" metal - $20
2 days of burning rods - priceless

it gets paint tomorrow

cool! nice job, i love seeing home fabricated stuff! one question though. why'd you go with 1/4 inch? that seems super super overkill. to me even 3/16 is overkill for a lot of different things. you coulda went with 2x2 .120 wall square tube for way less than 1/4 inch and it would have taken a hell of a beating

Thanks! I went to my buddy for material and I asked for 3/16". He said he would bend me what I wanted out of 1/4" for $20 so he wouldn't have to cut a new sheet of 3/16". I said for $20, cut and bent, whatever.

Looks cool, I also like the tilt. I hope you left enough room to put a larger tire on without hitting the glass, since, like most of us, you'll want bigger tires someday.

The way it sits right now, the rear wiper hits the tire so I need to throw some washers under the wheel. I can always modify it later for a larger tire.
