would a 96 xj 4.0 work in a 93 xj the 93 has a bad bottom end rod knock and i have the 96 at the house any reasons why or why not it will work?

1 vote for yes, (not that I know much about the 4.0 jeep motors), but I don't think much changed in those years.

I believe it will work, but the 96-up 4.0 head does not flow as well or have a spot for your temp gauge sender.


The 93 head on the 96 block may be the solution for you there.

Benefits of the 96- up block are stronger mount castings & lighter block strengthened with a main cap girdle.
