Probably not.

Yes there is. A modified inspection as well. Im actually going to be transferring it to Pa soon. I dont drive it in Pa and WV police dont usually pull out of state plates. Its not like I drive it everyday anyways. :)

I put some 6" LED's in. They are supposed to be turn/stop/tail. When I wired them up though the turn signal stops working when the brake is applied. I plan on wiring up a second set of small amber LED's for just the turn signals.

Love it Mykal, those led taillights are sweet especially when you put amber turns in to. I always liked how they look lighted up.

Goona be cool, but you will need to be sure you keep the structrual integrity of that unibody. I'd say you need to put a roll cage in it or an exo to bring it back with that much metal missin. GL You think it will be done for wellsville?

Not going to do the hybrid cage just yet but when this part is finished it should be plenty structural. But this is partly in preparation for the hybrid cage down the road. Cant weld a cage in if theres nothing to weld to. :)

Im not even sure Im going to make it to Wellsville, I had some financial issues come up. Have to see how everything works out.

It's going to fold like a taco...

You should think about a cage in my opinion. Unless you have plans to match the factory pinch seams with your welds. That uni is going to twist all over the place. I'm not trying to knock it, just something to keep in mind.

Im not pissed. :) No worries. I completely understood that you were saying i took away the structural integrity of it at this point. I just drove it about a mile up the road to my driveway. It didnt fold! haha :)

Hopefully getting steel Tuesday to start putting it back together.

Mykal

Im hoping to stretch it within the next few months to take advantage of the comp cut. Need to get the rear bumper done before I can move the leafs though.

Got the reverse lights suck in tonight. Got a little paint started. Not much in the way of progress tonight.

Still have to wire reverse lights, enclose gas tank, finish forward caps on tubs, and run the filler neck to the outside.

Im not. I dont want a MJ. You lose the purpose of the XJ when you do that.

Agreed. I never liked the half-backs. I do like MJ's though. I think there come's a point when a half-back can be necessary but doing it just to do it never made much sense to me. To each his own though.

I like the look but I dont like that you give up the weatherproof, securable cargo area. Thats the whole reason I have a XJ. So it doesnt make sense to me. If I wanted a pickup bed Id get a MJ and chop the bed down. Like you said though, to each their own.

Side view. Not even close to done. Still need the tube fenders and the stretch done as well as tucking up the wires.

Added these for turns. I dont really like them or the layout but they will work.

A very rough mock up of the back of the tubs. I cut into them so the rear seat could actually latch instead of relocating the latch mounts.

You're making progress. It'll look a lot better once you get that rear well painted and of course the stretch will help.

What size meats do you plan to run? I think I read something about an axle swap.

Mykal
11-18-2009, 01:08 AM
Its up in the air. I want a D60 to match my 14bolt so I can run 40"s.

My rear end is shot so I need to replace it before I can even drive it. Which puts me in a bind since I cant afford a D60 anytime soon and I dont want to fix the stock junk.

More then likely Ill try to find a D44hd to match the 14 bolt even though I dont want to. If I go that route, Ill run 37's more then likely. I have to see what a locked D44hd with a heavy foot can handle though.

Im probably not even going to stretch it yet. I really just miss flogging on it so I want to get it done. So after the interior is finished Ill hopefully start on the boat sides and rear bumper so I can then do the tube fenders and call it done for awhile.

Then again, Ive really been contemplating selling it or stripping it and letting Hedds have all the parts for hers.

Time will tell I guess.

Im burning in the last of the tubs tommorow.

Deadman 94 xj
11-18-2009, 01:47 AM
Ahh, they're all works in progress. I thought about selling mine about a month ago but decided against it. I don't drive it at all and the more I'm away the more I think I don't need it. It usually takes one little trip off of the pavement for me to realize that I was out of my mind :)

Front axles are always a pain on these things. I have a whole list of stuff I want to do to mine but I don't have a dime to spend on it right now. Probably not for a couple years to be honest. If I ever do decide to go all out it'll probably be a D60 for the front and a realted axle for the rear. But with that comes a complete make over of everything, as you know.

Then again, I'd also like to start out with a tube chasis and build something from scratch :D, that'll never happen lol.

Mykal
11-18-2009, 06:38 PM
Cut the tubs. Angled them back to let the seat come back all the way.

Never seen them before. Too late now. Probably cost too much anyways. Ive got $30 or so in these. If I bust one, I can pick it up locally with no wait and low cost.

Maybe next time around. This hatch is already cracked badly in a few spots. It probably wont take much more abuse.

looks like good progress!

Get the 14b in there and find a hd44 like you said. Build the 60 and wheel it until its ready. You never know, you might be able to make it last like Cheenin in his hardcore YJ. Some people just know how to get it done!
