So as of right now the discs are at NAPA getting cut, got new u-bolts at uniontown spring, brake lines from Advance auto, new pads, and new fluid. Tomorrow i get out of class at 3 so after that we're takin it on. This can't be as hard as putting an 8.8 in my TJ w/ a 4-link. Leafs are sweet :D.

Pics and updats as it happens, wish us luck.

What are you doing for brackets? Reusing the ones from the D35? Ebrake?

Moving the perches that are on the 8.8 and i'm not real sure about the e-brake yet. The 8.8 on my TJ had drum brakes and i put my stock TJ e-brake lines right in them but this one has discs so i'll have to devise a plaan when the time comes lol

I'm guessing you already have something in mind for a driveshaft?

Theres a 8.8 ebrake in a XJ thread going on Pirate right now. Not sure if it will help you or not. They are talking about what cables drop in.

Thread is here (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?p=10448853#post10448853)

Ok here it is.

So at 4pm yesterday we tore into it.
Grinded all of the unneeded tabs and plates off.

Then drained the fluid and cleaned the case.

Dana 35 came out pretty easy. Maybe cuz it's only been in there like a month.

Difference in size is pretty big.

Got the 8.8 in place. The brakes off of the YJ went right to the distribution block.

Mocked up and set pinion angle.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa311/mxer513/jakes%20YJ/1016092204.jpg

And got the perches and shock tabs burned in.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa311/mxer513/jakes%20YJ/1016092313.jpg

Then a coat of paint.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa311/mxer513/jakes%20YJ/1017090029.jpg

Ten it went back in and after about 2.5 hours of fighting ebrake pads and springs and frozen calipers we got everything working smoothly. Did use the loop and clamp method for the ebrake, seems to work great!

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa311/mxer513/jakes%20YJ/1017090331.jpg

Everything was tightened down and wheels went on.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa311/mxer513/jakes%20YJ/1017090456.jpg

By that time it was getting light outside.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa311/mxer513/jakes%20YJ/1017090457.jpg

So as i was trying to put the ujoints in the driveshaft i realized that the 8.8 yoke plate that bolts to the axle yoke was the wrong size, duhh they come in 2 sizes!!!

So after going to breakfast to waste time and wait for the junkyard to open we went and got the new, right sized, yoke plate.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa311/mxer513/jakes%20YJ/1017091028.jpg

So now it's done!!!! feels good, no vibs.

Looks good!

You might want to consider welding the tubes to the housing though (one of the weak points on the 8.8)
