so i was searching like crazy to find the thread where someone built a homemade parts washer with a plastic tub, some scrap steel and they used baking soda...i know ive seen it here but i just cant find it. if anyone has done this can you do a little write up with some pics? thanks!

No prob. I have been using that process quite abit lately, it's so much easier than wirewheel or grinding.

yeah i might do a set of subaru wheels for my grandpaps lady friend (clean and paint) and im thinking this is the best way

I never really timed it, I'd usually throw a part in overnight, move/reposition it in the morning and if it was good that night go with it if not reposition again.

We used salt water when we did my cousins gas tank on his bike. It worked really good. Maybe too good. Either that or the rust was just that bad.
