It is called a Z link, not the most stable in off camber situations but will flex great.

As in hydraulic powered rams? I must be missing them someplace in the picture. Very unique. I've seen them before but hard to get right. Love the theory behind the idea.

lookslike it will go through and over whatever... hows it actually handle?

limegreentj
10-30-2009, 02:40 PM
it doesnt have to handle...lol...i wouldnt think so anyway, if its not driven on the street...

hydro joe
10-30-2009, 02:52 PM
Its handles fine im getting use to the hydro steering.
A lot of people think that travel = soft suspension but drop out does the same thing.

So if you go over something with one side of an axle, do you need to manually adjust the other side down?

Some pretty creative stuff there which is always good.

I don't have to use my hydro when wheeling but it helps me pick a different line.

That video is amazing! That suspension, whole buggy, is definately a cool beast, I love the uniqueness in a rig and that takes the cake for me. Would love to see that thing in action on the trail.

ridgerunner97
10-30-2009, 04:43 PM
Also, with the suspension just obviously taking all the glory here, what axles and drivetrain are you running, look like yota axles to me, but i'm no expert, also diff gear ratio and tire size, its hard to judge the actual size of the beast from the pics and videos haha. That is one awesome machine! Damn!

hydro joe
10-30-2009, 05:03 PM
The beast is a dodge D50 toya axles 488 gears dodge t case with a 383 and 39.5 15 tsl.

Cool machine you got there. I'm getting confused though. I assume the pics are throughout the build because cylinders and shocks show up in different places. No big deal, just hard to follow.

Do you have any pics of the hydraulic controls? Can each cylinder float or be powered up or down individually? With the right valving you could do all kinds of fancy things.:023:

hydro joe
10-31-2009, 11:58 AM
Sorry about the two different buggy's but the chassis is almost the same.
I dont have any pic of the controls they are switches and the valving is in the 4 pumps that made it easy for plumbing and cheaper.
I plan to do it different next time.

Got to go to work but will explain later.

hydro joe
10-31-2009, 03:22 PM
I'm back, the hydros are controlled individually and the front do float .
The cylinders only go out and the weight of the buggy lowers it
The shocks are in different places because i am working on more travel.
I have a lot more at my web site 4wheelin.ning.com
