View Full Version : Who reloads
Ive done shotgun before but never brass.
I'm just curious who does it? I am thinking about doing 38 special with a lee progressive press but with the start up prices, powder, primer, bullets etc and value of time, is it even worth it?
Just kinda thinking out loud...

Well, if you are going to do a lot of shooting then yes it is worth it. I load 38, 45 colt, 357 and 40 S&W. I do a LOT of shooting.
Me and my old man do a good bit of it. My old man does stuff for his .22-250s and his bench rifles. I load a little bit of .30 Carbine and stuff to plink with.

I do it. Not much, just for hunting. I like the Dillon presses the best.
As far as if its worth it, it does depend on how much you shoot. I shoot 300-400 rounds of .454 casull per year and I don't even want to know how much it would cost to buy those rounds.
My setup is a mix of an old RCBS single stage and dies with Lee powder measure and primer.

Yea I've heard great things about those, but im not ready to sink that kind of money into it yet.

i have all RCBS stuff. I think it's well worth it for those who like to pop 200-300 rounds off at a time. It's another fun hobby to get into too.

The Dillon square deal B is 350.00 out the door. All you would need is powder, primers, brass and some bullets. This machine only loads pistol rounds.

My dad and I reload rifle stuff, no shotgun or pistol. Basic RCBS press, we do it mainly for the custom loads and stuff for hunitng, don't think we'll ever save money on the deal. :042: Guess you have to do a lot more shooting than we do.

Ya, I do mainly pistol and shotgun loading. A lot. Also, after you get a Dillon, once a month you get their catalog in the mail. They are like this one. I don't get to see the cover, by the time I get home Diane has already ripped the cover off.

Little old lady on craigslist made my day. Got a lee loader turret press that canload everything from pistol to 50BMG and a lee load all 12 gauge press for $40 for everything. No dies for the turret though. Now just need to figure all this stuff out.
I hate you. Ive been looking on there and didn't see that.

I do a lot of shooting and reloading as well.
Mainly reload .40 which is what I shoot in IDPA and .223.
I also reload .280 which is my deer/bear/hog gun.
I'm not much of a shotgun guy but my father-in-law is a big trap shooter so he does 12guage.
Well bringing this thread back from the dead. Today at work a guy taught me how to reload brass. I loaded 50 rounds of 300 win mag. I can't wait to shoot them.
