Someone upstairs must like me for sum reason cuz i've cheated doom once again by now I think my chances are runnin out.

The day before the Callie Memorial Ride in WV I swapped my tires out at my buddy's house in his heated garage and pulled out into his concrete driveway and let my Jeep set for a while. I had been havin a bit of a soft brake pedal a few days before that and when I came out there was a small puddle on his driveway back by the exhaust I figured it was condensation, checked all my fluids and noticed my brake fluid was low. Checked all the lines no leaks so I topped it off and didn't notice anything when swappin the tires.

Drove all day almost 200mi to WV and back in teh mtns and all, pedal was soft on the way home figured all the mtns the brakes were warm. Drove to School monday 60mi round trip on Rt. 30. Pull the tires again today to swap back out to my A/T's and the right rear tire is covered in brake fluid on the inside of the tire and rim, pull the drum and its full of brake fluid, must have blew apart the wheel cylinder or something idk drum brake terminology really well. Thank god I didn't lose em anywhere. I'll post pics as soon as my cell is charged.

Either that or my blown rear shock. I noticed yesterday there's oil all over my shock, leafs springs, and a small bit on the driveway on the paseenger side.

Here you can see how much fluid is all over the tire and rim on the inside

Checked the fluid after I got the A/T's back on cuz noone has brake parts i need for it til tomorrow, and it is WAY WAY low, i'm glad it held together.

Ive run into that before just trying to change my rear shoes... Kinda unexpected, as I didnt really have the time to be changing the rear wheel cylinder. It also sucked because I had to throw on the brakes with a leaking wheel cyl. to drive to the store to grab a new one only to rip it apart to install it.

Yeah, i'm gonna change em both now at the same time, and I needed shoes anyway so i'm gonna do it all now, probably get a few more months out of my front pads and then change them, I average about a year on front pads and a year and a half to two years on discs maybe more depending on how i'm driving LOL. It's time anyway, gotta put her out to pasture for a few weeks here and do sum general maintenance on her before the weather gets nice and the wheelin gets hot and heavy.

If you have to drive it like that couldn't you just use some vise grips to clamp shut a rubber portion going to that wheel and zip tie them up? That way all of your fluid would not leak out and you would still have brakes at the other three wheels. I know that this is not the optimal solution especially with icy roads but I'll take brakes at three wheels over a complete failure any day.

Appalachian American Line Locks. LOL The problem with that solution is it's at the rear and there is only one flex hose, so you would only have front brakes

front brakes do about 80% of the stopping anyway.

Correct, but dont forget your proportioning valve. The rear brakes have to begin to grab to engage the front brakes. Your a$# hole will pucker because it feels like you just lost all brakes. And you better crimping the line off to both brakes esp this of year.
