If you EVER get the opportunity to go to Johnson Valley, it's an absolute must. Unreal trip, and it only ran me about $450 for the whole shebang.

It killed me not to be able to go out there this year but i didn't want to miss anything with the little one (9 months). I was talking with cesco and we may try to make a trip out their some time to just wheel.

KOH was a great time. Cold and wet. I want to go out again:)
quick report:
We arrived on the lake bed on 2/8 @7pm. Drew was already unloaded. There were 11 member of the team there with a 12th on Friday. Tuesday - Thursday night we did minor changes to Lou's racer. Tuesday morning we buttoned up a few things on my brothers rig. Wednesday morning we fixed a couple of minor problems.

Friday was the race. 3 of us followed the dust junky's in Brian's bronco to the BFG remote pit. Saw Lou twice. His time seemed good. At mile 41 he lost forward gears. Although our pit duties were now done we decided to hang out for a while. We then watched Nick Campbell pull Shanon in with a bad trans. The team serviced nick and he was off. I helped push Shanon's car on to the pit mat and the team went to work changing it. A new trans was brought in. I heard that there was a hole in the trans cooler line. We left before they put it back together. Went over to sledge. Must of been 2000+ people there.

Saturday morning we took camp down and packed the trailer with gear. As a participant in the race the team was to clean a mile of the course. 5 of us went out with 2 Broncos. I think we cleaned 2 mile of the course. It was all desert and there really wasn't any spectator trash, just course markers. On the way back Chris's bronco ate the radiator on a steep rutted sand hill climb. I was in Brian's bronco and towed him back the long way around the mountain. We loaded up and where all started home by 4 pm.

Here a link to some photo's I got uploaded.

I think if I was gonna spend the coin to go out there I'd have to go when you can wheel. It would be sad to ride all the way out there to watch someone else wheel. If you go and make a longer trip so you could watch the race and wheel then it's another story.

You can wheel the whole time, with the exception of the actual race course on race day and LCQ day. After being there, I wouldn't go out without something like the KOH event going on. You want desolate, you got it. It's 15 miles from nothing. This gives you TONS of things to do/see while you are off the trail.
