As noted on pirate, Hummer does a lot for the wheeling community and keeping trails open. They will be missed. And whether you like them or not they are a competent wheeler straight out of the factory.

Yeah that kind of sucks that they're going under. Although selling the Hummer name to a Chinese company... that sucks worse.

Funny video though.

Whether you like them or not, its the end of more US jobs, directly and indirectly, (my dads company makes bushings for the hummer brand) also another name in the auto industry that will be gone, sad to see it go...:-(

i agree with the ifs.. and not to diss leaves but in the back of sumtihn that new that Jeep has had since 93?? thats lame.. and have you seen the way the rear sway bars are mounted?? wow... just itchen to be removed on the rock...http://www.adventureaccessories.com/acc.pics.h2/mechanical/rear.swaybar.700.jpgedit:: i just relized that this perticular model had 4link, but again it took them almost 10 yrs to do what jeep has done since 93.. dodge isnt much better tho i will admit waitin guntil 2009 to put coils in the rear of their trucks.. so w/e

Hummer was a big supporter of TreadLightly as well. Jeep was nowhere to be found.

Today they are reporting that two other potential buyers who were turned down before the Chinese deal was started are getting a second chance. They'll probably collapse again, but who knows.

It's kind of a bummer. These things were really a victim of bad timing and for some reason appealing to a certain demographic that were not really buying them for their capabilities but for status instead. So the greenies get riled up and the Hummers become the scapegoat (see Norwood, Scott)

The same thing could have happened to Jeep for that matter. I know people who spit vitriol at Hummers yet slug around in a different SUV getting worse gas mileage.

I'd wheel one. Be great for camping.

I think this is in reference to the civilian Suburban and Trailblazer variants, not the military Humvee.
Edit: errrr... Colorado. Not Trailblazer.
