I did this mod on my TJ and it made turning 33's very easy. I should've done it with the xj but i replaced the stock box with another stocker last summer.

Ya, I figured I would do the upgrade now since my stock box was leaking something feirce and starting to get alot of play in the pitman shaft.

Oh ya, also had a broken mounting bolt (prolly from the last trip to Cas).

Did you use the snow plow version or not?

only had one version at autozone. part #7561, doesn't say if it's the plow package.

I ordered it for the 98 Durango w/5.2 eng.

I did the same one in my old YJ, and with 35's it did really well on the street and trail. I used a junkyard box and after a few.years still shows no sign of leaking. Its the perfect upgrade if you need to replace the box anyway. Direct bolt on.

I never had any issues pushing 35's with my old XJ, the V8 ZJ tie rod helped quite a bit, and I still ran the stock box. Went though a PS pump, thats about it.

Its not that the stock box cant or wont do it, but rather the durango box will do it easier. It has larger internals and gives more assist. This the easiest comparison is the difference of the size of the cap, opposite the steering shaft.

I never ran a stock steering box as my YJ was manual steering when I got it. When I put power steering on it, I just went right to the Durango box. However it was noticeably easier with my 35's and Durango box than my friends TJ with a stock box and 33's.
