picked up a new project to build my new mud racer. it's gonna get a 4.3 v-6 and 33" tires to compete in that class at our local mud bog races. i already have a decent truck for all the other v-8 classes, so i wanted to build something to compete with the jeeps.
we need it to be light weight, since it will be down on power. 1/2 tons, and lots of sawzall time on anything and everything that can be taken off.
haven't decided if were gonna go with an automatic or manual trans yet. i have both setups ready to go. automatic with a full manual reverse valve body would be the best, but being low on power the manual may win out, for now.

to start off, we just picked it up last nite. the kid used it for a woods beater, and did lots of booty fab for it. it's been hard trying to locate a decent frame and cab to start with. wanted a shortbed for sure, but we could have cut down a long bed, but couldn't find a good one. got a half blowed 305, started roll cage. we got the matching painted front clip and hood, lots of extra parts. has a 4 speed and 208 (i think). actual hockey puck body lift, big rear blocks, stock front springs with extra plies, no steering correction.

so here's some pure booty fab which will be undone shortly.

Shit I don't know why you would fix any of that. I would drive that thing right up to yankee lake and hit the mud pit.:043:

i don't think it'd last long enough to make it through one hole as it sits.

Wow, That reminds me of a CJ5 I went to look at a few years ago up in north east Ohio. It had a 4x4 body lift and air shocks to clear 38's.LOL

Hey yall, wanna come over and help me put my cage in? SURE! Should we paint it? NAW, it'll look good all rusty. Maybe people won't notice the 4x4 with the sheet metal screws up front!

nice! :wasted:

Your gonna 4.3 power a fullsize?

Wouldn't you be better off swapping the axles under an S-10?

YZEATER

ya we thought of that, but already have lots of fullsize stuff. we'll probably have the 4.3 worked on a bit, so it shouldn't be too bad. think light weight also. when we get bored of the 4.3, i have a bbc 454 that could go in it, and will be much easier later. and you know, i luv the fullsizes!!!!
