Gonna put rocks and 53"s under something, just don't know what yet.
I have my rockwell diffs welded up, flipped the hubs, need to put on the pinion brake and mount steering ram. Wheels are almost ready for the 53" michelins. Just need a coat of paint.
I'm thinking one of these 3 options
1. K5 fuel injected blazer. Can pick em up all day on CL for $650. move front axle forward about a foot. Already have a 12" lift lined up.
2. Fuel injected late 80's chevy crew cab. Gonna remove the bed and slide the rear axle tight up against the cab. hard to find. Should already have beefy 205. Use same 12" lift that I already have lined up.
3. Used buggy tube frame, can't find one for sale, prob high cost, alotta fab, don't know shit about coil overs, or nitrogen filled thingies. Like the comfort of wheeling in a truck and the simplicity/toughness of leaf springs
I know what most of you are thinking, where's the jeep option? They cost to much and I would have to go thru the trouble of swapping in chevy drivetrain.
This is just gonna be a CHEAP trail rig so I can go out with you guys. My mud racer isn't setup for trails and I don't wanna ruin a cherry chevy body. I only have about 1200 in axles and tires and would like to keep the whole project under 2500.
So, one two or three?
