Anybody have experience with this. I need to get a spray paint that matches the jeep's color. I've heard the dealer can get this fairly easily.

For those that have done this, what's the turn around like? Any other tips?

Thanks!

it is so hard to get the exact color to match the stock color.

The best bet from what I have heard is go to a place like API who can use their scanner thing so the paint will match better after fading since it's not going to be as bright as the day it rolled off the assembly line

Yeah, I'd imagine it would be because of the sun damage ect.

What I'm painting requires parts of it to blend in, or be hidden. The only way I can do that would be to get it to match up the best I can.

Agreed take the jeep to API and have them shoot it. Bang-Bang!

Thanks. That said, it's a jeep lol.

anybody know where this API place is located? Could I just bring the part to them? The only thing I don't like about that idea is I wouldn't be able to touch it up when it inevitably gets scratched, ect.

Car Quest got me color match paint for a jeep in rattle can. It worked out well. Cans are small though. It took a 2 or 3 days for them to get it if I recall.

I think Pittsburgh Collision right at the 62nd St. Bridge (not the rt28 side obviously) has one of those scanner/gun things to match as well. Never had luck with thos elittle "Car Color" cans at CarQuest/Pep Boys/etc. Always obviously a different shade and stood out.

Thanks. I'm going to look around at those places. Car quest might be my best bet then.

I agree on the pepboys stuff. It never really matches up. If nothing else, I'll just paint the thing grey lol.

Thanks John. I don't have anything loose to bring up. I could just bring the jeep up there. I'll think about it some more. I think I'm leaning toward just getting some paint on it and calling it done.

You gona POR the outside? I'd prep it very well if I were you. I know asthetics and Jeeps don't really go together but that POR has a tendency to flake off. I did the underbody of mine and it's pealing off all over the place. I did the bumpers too but I also top coated them with rustoleum so I can't comment on the POR there.

I painted the tube fenders with the POR and it is holding on there strong. even from bashing it off rocks and trees. Did you happen to use their prep products? They also say just sturr the paint slow and not to shake it.

I have used my fuel door to get the color match done, its usually easy to pop off... depending on your ride.

Eh, it was the underbody. It's hard enough to prep as it is. I did use the acid and the metal ready. It was just tough to get a good clean surface under there.

That's actually a great idea. Thanks
