You should wrap it up around the tank farther than the stock one does. That would help to keep alot of mud out of there. I know when I took mine off it had a good 20# of mud in there. Lol

At least take a hole saw to it and cut some drain holes.

i dont wanna hijack your thread but you are good at the things you make how hard u think it would be to make a road armor looking bumper for a 99 dodge ram 1500 the one i like is the stealth base front bumper with pre-runner guard, but i think there price is a little nuts my buddy can weld thats what he does for a living he just not good at fab getting ideas if u know what i mean

Building a front bumper with lots of angles and tube takes a lot of time. Not a weekend thing unless you have lots of fancy tools and a good fabricator.

i am gonna put a lip on the one side to kind of box the tank in a little more, this one is also an inch shorter than the stock one, to move the tank up an inch.

josh, i am definitely gonna cut some holes in it, i thought about pressing the center of the skid, so the water drains to the center and out of some holes.

and jeremy, josh is correct, to build a road armor style bumper is pretty complicated...i could probably do it, but it would take a good bit of time,

agreed, prices on these types of bumpers ( road armor, fab four) are high for a reason. They aren't easy to make.

thanks man, i appreciate the kind words! its nice to hear that every once in a while...lol

thats how i build things a lot of the time, i see it in my head, and i just start to go from there, then i break out the cardboard and stuff. i never drew anything on paper or anything. although i can read blueprints and stuff, it would be a hell of a lot easier for me if i would just draw it up first..haha

I use cardboard templates alot too. It's easier for me to picture it finished. Plus it let's you change things on the fly, and try different things with whatever you are making.

poster board is good if you are making stuff out of thin sheet metal, cuz it flexes better than corrugated cardboard. but if you dont have to make a lot of curves and shit, pizza boxes do the trick...lol

I got more cardboard at work than o know what to do with, so I always end up useing that. If you ever need big sheets let me know. I can usually get like 3 ft x 6 ft sheets.

I believe that there are two tonnou cover boxes setting in the dumpster right now ( well they will be picking up the garbage tonight )lol but each box has two sheets probably 2.5-3 ft X5-6 ft go get them. we just burned a crap load of cardboard today because it wouldn't fit in the dumpster.
