So I was doing the last spark plug and my luck set in. The spark plug socket and adapter fell off and disappeared. Well I found it later and tried to get it out with a clothes hanger but only pushed it out of site.

This picture, the circle is the spark plug "hole" and the arrow shows where my tools went

Fell down in there.

So I'm thinking to myself, there are no moving parts down there and I could leave it in there.... but then I'm wondering, can it get to any part of the flywheel thats uncovered or cause issues...

In simple terms, should I park it until this weekend and pretty much pull everything out of my engine bay and try to get to it or just forget about it and buy a new spark plug socket?

I'd try to fish it out with a magnet before I ripped the motor apart.

Time, patience, magnet and a flashlight. You'll get it. I spent an hour one time trying to get a broken pushrod out of my ford 390. I almost gave up and pulled the intake and head, but I got it. My chest hurt the next day from leaning over the fender (truck is 7' high and I have to use a step stool to work on it.).

A set of balls.

Don't think that's the issue since I'm willing to pull the intake manifold off to get a socket..

well after a trip to harbor freight I came home with a flexy led magnet tool, pretty strong magnet on it too.

thats great news. i just got an l.e.d. claw after a million times of dropping this one little bolt during work on the mustang, and since, havent had to use it haha. but next time something little like that gets out of reach ill be ready. its those little things that make working on cars soooo much easier and a little more enjoyable

when I initially "bumped" into the socket i was about half way in so I should have actually came in from the other side (yea yea thats what he said). After I bumped into it I went to take it out of the hole and of course the socket fell. So for the next 20 minutes I had to find it again only looking straight down the opening, not very deep at all.
