Well I was spooling in the cable on my winch recently, after 30 seconds or so the motor would slow down to a stop and then reverse. The motor got pretty hot during this process like 200 F.

So yesterday I decide to troubleshoot it. When I check it out with my meter i have power to all three wires on the winch motor during power out and power in. The warn book lists them as A, F1 and F2.
To me this means I have a bad solenoid pack, correct? Any advice on how to test further?

i dont know anything about winches really, but did you test the solenoid while it was running? to monitor how much power its getting?

LOL!

to test it i would imagine you put the meter on the positive and ground it somewhere on the bumper or frame, and check the reading...while the winch is running....i couldnt say what the volts should be though...lol...i guess ill shut up

Well I guess I should explain better, the winch doesn't run at all now.
And I am testing it while the switch on the remote is depressed. I did test all the solenoids and they all energize when switched.

Can the solenoids be cleaned?
