I have noticed lately that when I start my truck that there is a slight vibration in the engine and it feels like the idle is lumpy. If I give it a little gas it goes away and I don't really noticed it at all besides on start up. No check engine lights or anything. Whats up with this?

*sighs*

probably the IAC

not sure what kind of truck you have, but if its FI, its got basically the same thing as every other car/truck

look through ed lorentz recent thread, i went into some pretty good detail there. i hope it helps, since it pertains to you also.

Is it a Jeep 4.0?

Its a nissan 3.5L v6. It is FI. What is IAC? The weird thing is that this all seemed to start happening when I started to park my truck on a hill at school. It was almost like the truck was not getting enough gas.

IAC = Idle air control.

maybe the fuel pump is getting weak? how much gas was in it? it might have sucked some shit up in there.

Hmm its weird though like it will be a little lumpy and as soon as I rev it up like 300-400 rpm its fine. I think I will clean the sensors and see if that helps. Truck only has 80K on it but I probably had less than a half of tank when I first started to notice this. The best way I can describe what it is like is you know when you put seafoam in through a vacuum line and the engine stalls out but shakes on the engine mounts and almost stalls. Thats what it is like.

Hmm..I know jeep 4.0s have a problem with heat soak in the injectors that will cause I rough idle until you burn all the ethanol out of the injectors thanks to the arabian bastards who sell us crappy gas.

and BTW to check if it's the IAC, some time it's idling funny unplug your IAC (should be on the throttle body) and the idle should change, possibly even stall the engine. If not, bad IAC

we refine all the gasoline that we burn.. so it's the cheap ass american oil barren cocksuckers to blame for the cheepo gas.
