I want a four inch lift for a 01 wrangler. I have narrowed my choices to BDS, R.E or R.K. short arm. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

You can't go wrong with BDS.

That skyjacker kit doesn't address the front trackbar. At 4" you want to do something with the trackbar or else the angles at the frame end get too steep and the tie rod will wear out. The stock t-bar only gives so much travel and at 4" it's pretty much at it's limit.

I would go with RE first and BDS second although BDS has a better cust service dept. Skyjacker is junk.....

Does anybody know how much cutting and exhaust relocating you have to do with BDS long arm?

You can usually get away with denting the tail pipe to give the shock alittle more clearance. As for how much cutting, with any long arm kit there is going to be a good bit of cutting and welding. But with the BDS kit you have to remove all four lower link pockets. you have to modify the belly pan to give the drive shaft the clearance to droop. you also have to cut off and weld on new lower sway bar link mounts. You also have to weld on a now steering stabilizer monut.

If you decide to go with BDS you will not be disapointed. I have there 6.5 in long arm kit on my tj. I have also installed about a dozen of these kits. It is not a bad lift to install. That said I don't know if you would want to attempt it if it were the first lift you had installed. Their directions are great, there is just alot of stuff to do. But that is true for any long arm kit.

I agree with Jeff, we have put on a number of BDS lifts on at Merridian and they are pretty straight forward if you follow the directions and take your time. Their quality and attention to detail seems second to none. Every vehicle we do has rode like a dream after we are done with it, no handling or alignment issues. Theres a gentleman around Karns City that had us put a 6 inch lift on his 2009 GMC 3500 HD. Ill try to include a picture of it, but I've ran into him a few times after we put the lift on and everytime Ive see him he tells me how happy he is with it. He says it rides like a dream even tho he has a 1500 lb welder in the back of his truck. We also did a 6 inch Long arm kit on a Dodge Mega Cab, and even with 37s at 65mph It rode like a caddy. I agree with Jeff 100% but of course its up to you on what lift you want to go with.

I have a repair shop in Pgh. my one mechanic is pushing me to go with long arm i bought this to mostly use in mud its not a daily driver. I guess what I should be asking is does the short arm ride that badly? Also does Meridian sell BDS?
Thank you

Yes We do sell BDS. We also sell Rock Krawler. But BDS would be my first choice.

At 4in of lift you could probably get away with short arms. But the Long arms will ride MUCH better and will be more capable offroad. You well get way more axel articulation out of a long arm lift.

Also any long arm kit you do you are going to need a SYE and a cv (or double cardan) driveshaft. If you decide to go with the BDS long arm kit, I would also get their belly pan. This would mean that you wouldn't need to mod the stock one. and it is also a tummy tuck pan. IIRC you gain 1in of clearance over the stock pan. OR you can ad the belly pan at a later date if you wuld like.

I don't know where you are located but you are more than welcome to stop by my house if you would like to see the BDS LA kit installed. Just shoot me a pm. THe BDS LA kit has tons of articulation.
This is me on the RTI ramp at Charrap last summer I scored a 1377 IIRC

:edit: I just looked at your screen name. If yours is a Rubi you will not need the SYE. You will need the new driveshaft though.

Hey TJBlaire I just swapped in a HP30 and made some adjustment to my arms and I was wondering if you guys felt like doin an alignment? I want to have it done by someone who's experienced with lifts and alignments instead of a shop like midas. They never seemed to get it right.

We don't do alignments, we take all of our stuff to Koppen's in Butler. Frank there at Koppen is a pretty good guy, He will talk your Phukin ear off, but they do good alignments.

:edit: sorry dude I forgot who I was typing to.
