Hello,
My name is Zach and this is my truck.

I love my truck. She is a 94 California built Ext. Cab w/22RE 5spd. It has 301,318 miles. Picked it up for 600 bucks, the guy told me it probably won't last very long.........that was 15 months 8 Wellsville trips and 7k brutal miles ago. It currently has front Ball Joint spacers, rear add a leaf, and an Aussie Locker in the rear. It wheels pretty good but alas it is time for an upgrade.

From an 85 pickup in Medina Ohio from a nice guy with a bunch of toyota toys. Spins good, birfields look good, everything looks good.
It didn't look like that for long.

Sandblasting was a pain but I think it will be worth the time.

I picked up some steel for my spring hanger and rear shock mounts. Glenshaw Steel Supply off RT8 great guy he gave me a ton of 1/4, 3,16 plate for nothing.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g198/Fourgee6tee3/sas/310.jpg?t=1265007309
Picked up a set of 87 rears for $20 thanks Brian. The Ranchos were not that cheap
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g198/Fourgee6tee3/sas/313.jpg?t=1265007426
But before any of that I need to install this baby...
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g198/Fourgee6tee3/sas/311.jpg?t=1265007488
I'm going to need those...Crawlin on a budget son...
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g198/Fourgee6tee3/sas/319.jpg?t=1265007636
Disassembled
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g198/Fourgee6tee3/sas/321.jpg?t=1265007552
Detroit locker 250$ by far my best deal.
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g198/Fourgee6tee3/sas/320.jpg?t=1265007769
Ready for assembly.
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g198/Fourgee6tee3/sas/322.jpg?t=1265007874
Locked and loaded.....
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g198/Fourgee6tee3/sas/326.jpg?t=1265007914
Everything was going great....so I knew something would go wrong. My pinion felt awfully rough when I was turning it right before I put it all together. I took the flange off and the seal was loaded with dirt and mud.
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g198/Fourgee6tee3/sas/324.jpg?t=1265008131
So this happened....
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g198/Fourgee6tee3/sas/325.jpg?t=1265008232
The bearings had some grime in them so I cleaned them up. Reinstalled the pinion without a crush sleeve to check for the pinion depth.
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g198/Fourgee6tee3/sas/327.jpg?t=1265008722

I don't know how someone could do all that work inside the actual axle......Third members are the way to go.

I have one more spring to add so I will have a Normal 86 rear pack with a BDS spring as well so a total of four springs. I may need more but I want as little lift as possible.
Time for my spring hanger. I started with a piece of 2x2 3/16 square stock. I am using 1/4 plate for the hangers.
http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs469.ash1/25749_533971180958_64702786_31469372_6999315_n.jpg
Endplates tacked on. I put a second hole an inch behind and a hair lower just in case there are complications with the drag link and tie rod hitting I can adjust it.
http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs469.ash1/25749_533971185948_64702786_31469373_682953_n.jpg

The hanger with the springs in it. They unfortunately warped a fair amount and it is a struggle to get those things in there.

86 Pack minus overload and I am adding a leaf from a BDS lift pack. I want to keep it as low as possible. I imagine there will be some fine tuning left to do.

Had to torch the bed bolts off. not fun when you have a leak in your sending unit.

Somehow survived, and got the bed off.

Yeah that is going to need to be repaired.

Picking up a new sending unit tomorrow. Hopefully I will get this thing out before winter.

I hope you kept your IFS hubs, they add 1.5" of width on a solid axle. Or so I been told on the internet, and everything on the internet is true.

I do have the hubs, I went with wheel spacers for now to equal the rearend (which the solid axle is correctly 1.5'' shorter then an IFS rear). One day I will drop 250 on a kit to ditch the spacers.

Yes. Let's do that. I could use your tubing expertise when I do my sliders and bumper.
