I just did the gears in the Wife's JK. 35's, 5.13's, and 35's and it right around 2500 rpm at 70. it's PERFECT.

Also, this is the 2nd install i've done with G2 gears. I added .008 to the pinion shim, reinstalled to check pattern, it was dead nuts on in the rear, in the front i swapped left and right carrier shims (they're all external) moving the carrier .01" towards the gear side, and it was perfect. backlash was just a little tight before i did that.

these have the be the EASIEST gears i've ever installed. that's twice they've gone in like that. both in nick's 09 rubi and in kim's 07 X.

PLUS, for 550 shipped to my door you get full install kits (carrier and pinion bearings), and 2 free G2 covers. you just can't beat it!

that is a hell of a deal. you have all the tools to set the backlash and all that?

i borrowed a dial indicator, but they're all of 18 bucks at harbor freight.

i bought a new digital caliper for checking shims, and i had a collar for pressing off bearings.

you need an in/lb meter for preload if you can't do em by feel, but i've done enough of em that i can set it by feel.

Nice. I had 4.88's on 35's in the cherokee with an auto and always wished I could go lower. I'd imagine it feels pretty good.
