Looking to make a (few) purchases around the end of the year. One of which includes a "long" distance caliber, 3-600yds, for fun, not hunting, maybe competition. Not looking for a bolt action action, unless it starts with "B" and ends with "arrett" ;)

Honestly, I like the idea of an accurized AR platform. 20" heavy barrel in 6.8 Grendel. Also considering the Barrett Model 98 Bravo. I know, the two are not even in the same ball park...

The barrett has the "badass" factor, the 6.8 has the (relatively speaking) economical factor.

Looking for some ideas, insight, etc. No matter what I end up with it will have appropriate optics (think swaroski for the barrett), top of the line factory ammo, etc. I'm not looking to load my own wildcat loads, nor do I have the time to hand load.

I am not only looking at these two rifles. I will entertain ideas of all types. Throw out what ever ideas you have.....I'm all ears...

On the right it says click for specs, you can outfit it other than the wood and standard barrel. The Super Match is one BADASS Rifle! Johnson's Gun Depot in Norvelt, PA had a Super Match, still probably have it. It was either a Super Match or the Match.

Send these out of it, same round the Marine Corps rifle team used to use some years ago, still may i'm not sure. A lot of LE Snipers use this round, it is accurate.

And if your goin farther than 500yds, step it up to the 175gr round. :)

I've shot that ammo only in .30-06 out of my Model 70 and it is flat out IMPRESSIVE at LONG range.
