2010 Deer Season - Results

Haven't seen a 2010 thread yet so here goes - anybody get a deer yet?


I got a 9 point in the North Hills on Columbus Day with my bow. Decent deer, not a recordbreaker but it was nice to butcher a deer while wearing shorts and a t-shirt for a change. I was in my climbing stand for all of 20 minutes. A 6 point and a small 8 point were sparring right in front of me for about 15-20 minutes, really fun to watch. The 9 was watching them farther up the hill. He matriculated down the hill after they left, I got him with a double lung shot at 41 yards. He went about 20 yards and that was it. Easton Full Metal Jacket (11.1gpi) arrow with a 100 gram Grim Reaper Razorcut broadhead shot from my Hoyt Katera XL.

I'll get some pics up once i get to another computer.

Going to deer camp all next week, should be excellent hunting during these peak days this year.

My dad got one with his muzzle-loader a few weekends ago.

I almost got a nice buck with my jeep on the way to the bar last night.

I can't wait to get a few days off during rifle season. That will be the first time out other than flintlock in three years so im really excited.

Not a deer, but we were up at camp this weekend and saw this guy bedded down right up the road. Could have walked up and cut his throat. :107:

Seen a bunch of deer too, but we were hunting small game

I'm seeing TONS of deer but not the one I want. Passed on a couple small ones and had an 8 point walk in and die 25yds in front of me. I was just getting ready to draw and he fell over. After dark I did a little CSI work and found a crossbow bolt going from his back leg along the ribs into 1 lung. The guy must have shot him walking away. One more week but I've got the first week of rifle off so no worries!

I feel ya. Congrat's! Last year I passed on probably a dozen smaller bucks waiting for a big boy, only to never get a shot. This year I decided to take what I had.

Hunting all last week up at my camp. Very slow in the woods with the warm weather. I was hunting doe only of course, had a few shots on smaller doe but didn't feel like taking one. My buddies saw some smaller bucks. Nobody got one. Of course driving to dinner the last night of the hunt I almost hit a monster 12 point on the road with the ZJ, about a mile from camp. The deer won that round and rubbed it in our face a bit.

Going up for rifle season just to hang out with some old (and I do mean old, these guys are in their 80's) friends, maybe shoot a doe.
