The build specs we kind of followed - http://www.woodgas.net/files/FEMA%20emergency%20gassifer.pdf

Eat your heart out hydrogen fuel cells. My little wood gas rocket should be putting out 20% hydrogen, 20% carbon monoxide, %50-60 nitrogen, and the rest is methane, water vapor, etc...and all I'm putting into the fuel hopper are wood chips I got for free from a tree recycling plant chipper.

Now that I have a working gasifier producing wood gas, I'm going to mount that puppy on a small trailer and use it to run my 63 CJ5. That's right, I'm going green!

No gasoline, just wood chips!

hahaha sweet! You got me thinking about building one to run the generators off of if we get another monster snow like last year :)

This design isn't good for stationary work, since the thing needs to have the ashes shaked down constantly (which is why there is a shaker in it that I can work from the oustide), but other designs like the kalle and imbert are beter suited if it isn't being shaken around going down the road.

LOL what better way to keep it shaking than an old CJ lol. Very cool. Hard to believe that the technology behind it is that old yet it's not commonly heard of.

Yes, well when you're looking at a 25% HP loss, adding fuel to the hopper every 10 miles or so, and dragging a fire place around behind your vehicle, it makes sense you don't see these all the time.

In my opinion, free fuel, tax free, outweighs the disadvantages. Not everyone will agree.
