Hey guys here's my build thread for my bumper for the rubi.

Our team's welding sponsor just got a cnc plasma so I plan to have the plates for the bumper cut on that.

The plan is to use 3/16 scrap steel plate.

I'm working on the design now and if I can find cheap steel I would like to get the plates cut before Christmas break then weld it up over the break. But like all my projects it will probably take a lot longer than that.

The plan is to have a integrated winch plate, brush guard, mounts for factory fog lights, and bolt on d ring mounts.

Here is a teaser pic: I am getting my inspiration from a bumper I saw a while back on jeep forum.

Which bolt on d-rings? Hummer ones?

Which bolt on d-rings? Hummer ones?

I'm not 100% sure yet. I was thinking that it would look good with a gray bumper and two black bolted on d ring mounts like you see for the jk's but after seeing their prices I may just go weld on/through.

Here's what I have so far. I have to take some winch measurements tomorrow. I think I'm going to have to extend the front out a bit for winch clearance but ill know for sure tomorrow.

Well today I got a 4x4 sheet of 3/16 and 15 foot of 1.25 1/8 in thick tubing. Total price was 113. So now I just have to finalize the design and get it cut.

For the design I am debating about extending the ends to protect the flairs a little bit better.

Nice. Are you going to weld every corner or are you goint to bend in some places?

Welp just and update. I am going to weld all corners. I have the design and cut paths done but the guy that has the cnc plasma has been out with the flu so no cutting for me. That means I can't get it cut till after break. That is kinda bad timing as I will have tubes for a mini baja car then so this is getting put off for a bit but not long.

well just an update. I got all the plate pieces cut and the tube bent. Here's some pictures:

The plates cut really well with little slag.

I have four weeks of class left and then three weeks before heading to Nevada so I'm planning to weld up the bumper as part of my pre-west build up.
