We have a tube shark at the shop. probably a little big for in a home garage, but it is awesome. Ive never used a jd2 but Ive heard good things about them. If I were going to get one for home I would probably go with the Pro bender.

I like the vertical style better. But that is just personal preference and what you have room for. As for the die prices, get used to it they are all pretty expensive. You just have to figure out which dies you will use the most and start with those ones.LOL

Good luck.

The prices for the dies on the JD2 are nuts because it's a tube bender - not a pipe bender :)

I have the Pro Tools 105 - you can't really go wrong with Pro Tools, JD2 (I've used both) - and I've heard nothing but good things about the Tube Shark either.

i have a jd2, it works well, and the dies are about the same price as any of the other TUBE benders. if i did it all over again i think i would get a pro tools only because they are active on a fabricators forum i frequent and thus are more accessibe to tech support.

Pipe benders are for plumbing, pipe is measured by inside diameter... Therefore 1.5" pipe bending dies won't work with 1.5" Tube, because structural tubing is measured by outside diameter.

The JD2 tubing bender is $400 and the die is $275 I think. You'll have $735 or so in it shipped to your house. I have one and it works very well.

I use a PRO-TOOLS HB-302 air/hyd with EZ-Bend software in the shop I work at... It works great! Use it alot for fabricating cab protectors and hand railings..
