So with my new iroks my rear tires are about 1/2 - 3/4" away from the coilover springs. I'm a little worried about them rubbing, especially when i go to 42's....

so i'm pretty sure i have SRW hubs out back. can i just swap out DRW hubs to get the clearance i need? how much does that change the width per side?

Thanks guys! i'm looking at pirate's 14 bolt guide but i don't see an answer.

The DRW hubs will make your WMS-WMS narrower, so your tires would end up mounted closer to your coilover with them, making your problem worse.

I would say use a rim with different backspacing, spacers or remount your coilover.

ok thanks, that's what i originally thought but i must have misread the 14 bolt bible.

ok, with the rear wheel on i have about 2" of Full float hub sticking out of the center... does that sound like DRW or SRW hubs?

sorry about the n00b question. this is what sucks about not building this myself.

The pic didn't work. From the flange to the outside of the hub the SRW is 1.5"-2", the DRW hub is 3.5"-4". I am not exact on the measurements but it should give you a good idea until someone knows for sure. I have DRW hubs but the axle is in the storage shed, so i can't measure it for you.

Yah I would say you have SRW hubs. DRW have a good bit more hub sticking out.

gotcha, ok thanks man. i appreciate it. i'll flex it out and see how it looks. worst case scenario i'll just nab some 1.5" spacers off ebay. thanks again.

Another way to tell is to measure your WMS-WMS. If it is 67.5 you have SRW. If it is 63.5 you have DRW hubs.

There is also another 14 bolt that is 72" WMS-WMS, but those are rare.

No problem, good luck.

Yes, SRW.

It looks like you can get custom made hubs with a different offset through Rockcrusher. You have to talk to them to see what they can make for you needs. But I would imagine it would be pretty pricey.

i sent them a PM. I wonder if Larry still works for them...

i want 1.5" more clearance a side for the 42's... i can use spacers but i'd rather do it the right way. and hell, i'll spend 130 bucks on spacers anyway... if it's 3-400 it might be worth it... we'll see

thanks for the heads up!

Cool, don't forget you would also have to move your backing plate so your brakes line up.

Very true...

Are your CO's mounted totally outboard of the frame? Its not street legal anyway right? re-do the upper mounts, bring them inboard a bit and see how much you can gain.

Can you post a pic of the upper mount to see what you have to work with??

Dually rear hubs make rear axles narrower, dually DRW front hubs make front axles wider.

Just buy some 1.5" wheel spacers man, or get some rear wheels with less backspacing.

What GM vehicle had the 72" wide 14 bolt rear? I think I may need it to match the WM of my Dually 60 front.

About halfway down the page, there is a table for "other" 14 bolt axles. They don't seem to have an actual WMS for the "other" axles, but they do list shaft lengths -- from which you could estimate the difference. Looks like the total length of the "Type 3" shafts is about 2-3 inches longer than the total length of the "Type 1" shafts (which go into an axle with about a 67" WMS), so there should be something close.

Keep in mind, though, that it's not a big deal if your rear axle is a few inches narrower than the front -- in fact if that is the case, the rig should steer better. If you look at most OEM applications, the front axle is almost always wider than the front.
