yeah, that seems to be the problem.. i might just have to pick up a harbor freight bender and bend the pipes myself i cant seem to find anyone wth both a bender and a welder

i have a 1" die for my jd2 bender, it would work really well for this, but i really have no idea when i would have the time to bend it all up though.

the harbor freight pipe bender would work fine for a roof rack. you would only need 8 - 90 degree bends

Thinner wall tube kinks a lot easier, although it would be cheap so not like you're losing a lot. One other thing to consider too is making 4 90s consistent enough to have it all line up for one weld may be tough on a HF

I think Lime said if you take your time and use Sand in the Pipe that it will help keep it from kinking. I've been thinking about picking up a kinker to do a rack for mine, just trying to hammer out my suspension first puttin a damper on funds.

welp looks like ill be going to harbor freight for a bender nd then gonna have to pick up a bag or 2 of sand, lol iv heard the tubing kinks easily with it tho to which is why i was trying to put it off as long as i could, do u think itd be strong enough to bend steel or am i gonna have to use conduit? im not sure how strong conduit is i dont need it to hold a ton, but id like it to hold a roof top tend somewhere down the line

i have seen roof racks made of conduit (sp?) and looked good and easy to bend.

I would not use conduit, just get a universal roof rack they are alum. and come with mounting brackets so you will have it installed in an evening
