I need a 24"x60" sheet or somewhere close to that. 2'x8' would probably be best. Nothing under 1/8" (.125") thickness.

Cheap is good! I'm looking for a "local" place.

Thanks!

I know you said "local" price, but these guys are usually cheaper than the local guys shipped to your door.

Hey tom a few year back I needed some, I went to a local fire truck repair shop and got a ton for next to nothing. I don't know if there are any places that work on fire trucks around you but maybe worth a shot. Place by me closed up.

Really? I've looked there in the past and all they had were the 1x2 sections for about $30 lol. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

Thanks for the tip.

Tom, go right over the hill to Wheaton and Sons down by the river there towards the bridge and talk to them. They have anything and everything. Idk what their prices are like any more, been a while since i've got anything or talked to anyone who has. Also Multi Metals in Delmont is another place to call.

Yeah if you could, that'd be great.

I'll look around in the mean time. This is for the rear of the CJ tub (wrap around the back). I need something to stregthen that area up a bit and I don't mind the look. I also figure if I can get enough, I'll go ahead and cut some rocker gaurds out of it. :)

Probably want some 3/16? Is 1/8'th gonna be enough for rocker guards and corner protection?

Yeah, it's not so much for rock protection and banging it off of stuff protection. More for stuctural with a glass tub protection. Ganted the rocker gaurds would be better at .25" but the price goes up quite a bit. Either way they won't be used as sliders or anything. :)

My rear tire carrier anchors itself to the tub back there (no tailgate) and I'd like to beef it up just a bit.

I gotcha. Sliders are fine at 3/16 btw :)

Yes you jagoff but try bending 3/16 aluminum! :D Seriously though, I might not even do the rocker gaurd thingy, not sure about the look. I do need something for the rear though.

Just wondering how you plan on bending it around the tub corners.

you need to find something with the same radius, and clamp, bend, clamp, bend

trial and error? :D

I was just going to find something close enough to bend it around. Telephone pole or Jon's head. Probably something smaller. That tread plate stuff is hard though because the little treads tend to "pop out" if the bend is too tight. I shouldn't have that problem though with this.

check on some large diameter pipe.

If you know someone with a break the might be able to bend that radius with a bunch of small bends.

Thanks Jeff. I'll see how it feels once I get it in hand and go from there. That might be worth a try though.

I was told that the place will bend it to the radius I need but I'm not sure how much. I guess I'd need to bring the jeep up there too.

they can do it with a single bend, as long as they have the correct die with the proper radius.

multi metals will bend plate any which way. you jus have to draw it up axact
