I am pretty sure the frames are different between a 2wd and 4wd.

Much easier to just start with a k10. For trucks that are so similar throughout their life there are a lot more difference between them all then the average eye can catch

An Old timer told me he built a 4wd Suburban from a 2wd by cut the frames and switching them. I would think strength would be compromised but who knows.

Leaf spring vs IFS. It would be no different than a SAS swap. But, K10's are easy to come by.

cut out the 2wd suspension, and put it back together like a 4wd. it can be done. if the truck is in really good shape it would be worth it. you can buy all new frame mounts from diy4x or find someone scrapping a 4wd and get the brackets you need.

been a little bit, but i have a spotless 4wd K5 blazer frame id part with, might just have to move the mounts a little for a truck bed.

The frame rails are the same just the bracketry is different. My friend found a perfect 82' Burban with a 454 and 19k miles, so it was worth it to him to make it a 4x4. It can be done but in most cases it's not worth it.
