Got a trade offer that includes of some guns for my Jeep. Just wondering what these are worth, I know guns hold their valve better than Jeeps!!

He said he bought them all new and has not fired any of them much (I have pictures, but can't post them from my phone)

Here is what he sent me:

Benelli M4 Tactical 12Ga, Changeable Choke Tubes, Pistol Grip, Semi Auto, Gas Piston Operated (not spring recoil like a Remington 1100). It was around $1600 new

Marlin Model 1895 in .45-70Cal, Lever Action, Stainless. Guide Series Which Means Short Barrel. $700 new

Colt Night Defender .45Cal in Stainless/Black with Trijicon Sites (Glow in the Dark). $1000 new

Kimber Ultra Carry II .45Cal with Crimson Trace Laser Grip, Stainless. $1300 new

Beretta 9000S 9mm, Single/Double Action, Made in Italy. $650 new

Ruger 10/22 with Synthetic Stock, E.R. Shaw Custom Stainless Barrel, Leupold 3-9x40 Mil Dot Scope. $600 new + $300 Scope

Winchester Model 70 in .22-250Cal with Tasco 4-16x40. $400 new

really probably not to much lower than original price. MOst guns will hold value if they truly are in good near new shape. Reallly those seem like mostly good guns with decent accesories. That tasco 4-16 on the model 70 isnt worth much of anything to add value.

check out http://classifieds.pennswoods.net/classifieds/index.cgi and http://gunbroker.com for some real used prices. I can't see the marlin or the ruger 10/22 being worth that much.

Or you could call a gun shop that buys used guns. Tell them what you have. Then they'll say "we would have to see them before we made an offer". Then you say "I just want a middle of the road price to make sure its worth my time to bring them down". Then add about 100 bucks to price they give you for the real value.

Stopping at the gun shop on the way home!! Just trying to get a ball park to see if a trade is worth it. I would probably keep the shit gun, they rest I would sell if its worth anything. I know I didn't pay much for my xd-40 but some of the others I looked at were $$$$ even used.

I'd be interested in the colt if you get them

I looked a few up in my blue book and you have MSRP (or higher) prices listed with them. Your best bet is to look them up on gun broker to get current fair market values for them.

If you want to get rid of them quick and only get 60-70% of what they are worth then the gun shop is the way to go.

A. I am pretty sure that the 1100 is gas operated, too.

B. Those prices are really high. Most of those are 25-50% more than they are currently worth.

I always get worried about trades: I figure if things are worth that much (real value) why didn't they sell them on their own. I only trade if it is something I can really make use of, not have to go sell myself :\

Those are the prices he gave me. I haven't had a chance to do any price research, this post was my first stop. I'll do more research when I'm on the laptop at home, and not my phone.

The whole lot worth $4000?

Matt, I feel the same way, but this is the best/only offer I've had in over a year!!!

Gun shop said they would give me right around $3100 for everything (more or less depending on what they actually looked like in person).

The guys "new" cost he gave me were WAY higher than what the shop was selling stuff for.

^ That is pretty darn close to what you could get out of them. I know that that Marlin .45-70 will bring right around 500, the Kimber and Colt i'd imagine 6-700 a piece depending on condition of course...and what Model 70? Older, newer, synthetic or wood? That 400 could be on the low side or the high side it all depends on what it is.

I'd be interested in the M4 if you're looking to resell it. And yes, his new prices are high.

I will probably be basing everything on the prices from the gun shop. If the trade actually happens (doubt it), I will post them up for sale before I take them to sell them at the store.

He probably just went to each companies web site and found MSRP. I see it all the time with people trying to sell guns they won at bash's. They tell you "what it's worth" and then how much they want for it, which is usually around what a shop would want.

Do you have room to haggle? If so explain to him that 1) MSRP is not what guns are worth 2)If they have had a single round down the barrel they are now used and not worth as much as a new gun. 3)You do not plan on keeping all of them and will need to price them accordingly so you don't lose your shirt.

If he is firm on what he thinks these guns are worth tell him good luck, he's gonna be sitting on them for quite some time.

I told him if he wanted to compare MSRP on the used guns, then I had a $20k Jeep and we could work out a deal that way! Or he could sell his guns for $6000 and pay cash for the Jeep if he thinks they are worth that much. Don't figure I'll hear back from him.

if you actually wanted to sell your jeep you should have just come back with a price plus the guns that you wanted instead of a smart ass reply.

it's not like you've had people fighting over it.

Funny, I think he did the 100% right thing. Buyers like that aren't worth the time. Hit the road, jagoff's.

I said I would take the guns and $3000 and he didn't want to hear it. Kept saying his guns were worth $6k MSRP and didn't want to hear they were only worth $3k, so I told him if that was what he wanted to base stuff on, then my Jeep was worth $20k. Screw him, I'll part the Jeep out and make $6k before I trade it for $3k in used guns I have no use for.

after what? 1.5 years? that's probably going to be what happens to make your $ back. Sucks but built rigs are going cheap lately.

I'D trade him YOUR Jeep for the Benelli and the Kimber! :-P

Shoot - I'd trade him my Ramcharger for all that, too!
