Anyone got a .223/5.56 bore gauge go/no go gauge and reamer for 5.56. I am getting failure to feeds on my DMPS AR15 (stow your DPMS comments please :) I knew I might have this problem when I bought the gun)

I have a blue steeled barrel so it might be mischambered need to chk it and ream it if necessary

PM sent

I should have a bore gage that size. A lot of my machinist tools are at my parents right now, but I'll be stopping by there later today (around 5:00p)
I have ones that will read .00005", or .0001"

You might have a bad mag thats messing up the cartridge approach angle.

I thought about the mag issue- but its green followers supposedly the improved mags. If you look at the failure to feeds when they happen there is indent from the bolt hitting the brass on the side of the cartridge about 1/8 deep.

Also been told could be bolt headspacing?

You're saying the bolt partially rides over the round being chambered and dents it? So your failure to feed isn't even making it into the chamber?

I still wouldn't trust a magazine just because it has a green follower when it is a fail to feed issue. They're easy enough to swap out and eliminate as a cause of problems.

When he's not posing for cash with AK's, and he's on his OWN time... :080:

Once you ream that DPMS for 5.56, be sure to check your gas ports - if it's overgassed now (and DPMS has been known to do that a time or twelve...), the ride will NOT get smoother with 5.56, even if it does fit IN the chamber! :107:

It ended up being a mag issues with my FTF. I went with high end Mag Pull PMAG magazines... and that fixed it. The chamber was correct and the gun fire flawlessly with new mags. Using the stamped steel DMPS mags results in the occasional FTF still.
