so early chevy TBI... i know its a pretty simple system but does anybody know if it matters wethere you have a manual or auto computer running the motor behind a given trans? im finishing a NV4500 swap and with the manual computer out of a donor truck it runs for a few seconds, sputters, and stalls. with the origional computer it runs strong. i checked idle speeds to see if there was a significanct difference, and auto in drive is 550 and man. in neutral is 600RPM. ive driven it up and down the road and it moves fine, just wondering if im gonna have a problem down the road?

It shouldn't matter. For the most part, it only only controls the engine.

I've been trying to determine the same info. From what I've gathered, the only thing that matters to that computer from the tranny is the vehicle speed sensor, and that's just to lean it out during highway driving to increase fuel economy.

I'm sure someone can correct me if I'm wrong though

speed sensor plugs were the same, unless theres a different sensor for the computer i think i should be good
