Just bought a 01 trd taco and although my plans are to do a SAS it's not gonna happen til spring. I just wanted some opinions about the inexpensive ifs lift stuff I found and was gonna put on for the winter.

All pro front 2 1/2" spacers and their 2" front diff drop for the front and depending on how level that sits I'd do a 1 or 2" block in the rear.

Sounds simple enough, right?

Anything I'm missing that I should get?

I put one on my friends. It's that simple. You'll need to be able to safely compress the front strut springs. I used drop shackles in the rear. Blocks would have worked out better as I had to cut and reweld the exhaust because it caused the spring to hit.

I needed longer rear shocks.

How much taller shackles did you use? I was thinking about putting the spacers in the front and seeing where it sat before I bought blocks if nothing else.

It wasn't much by memory. My friend still has it but he's out of the country for a few more days. I could have him measure it next week if you want.

63 inch chevy springs would eliminate the shackle issue.

My 4runner had 63" Chevy's but it was on 35's and sat really tall. I sorta remember that it might've had trailgear shackles. I just never heard of chevy's being used with a low lift

wes ran 63" chevys in the back of his taco before he did the 3link. I know that gave him like 3 or 4 inches out back. With the 3" lift he had in the front, the back end still sat higher by a couple inches iirc

you might be able to make a bastard pack that would give you the lift you want, may be able to find out what combination of leaves you need on the interweb somewhere. But if you're going to end up changing it in the spring anyways, I would just do the front, measure, then do the block like you said originally. That way you would be able to get it exactly where you want, and all you have to buy/ change is the u-bolts and add a block

what size tires are you looking to run with this setup? 32s will fit without any lift, wide 33s need to be pushed out more than they need a lift to fit.

I had 255/85/16s on my truck with ~2.5" up front and nothing out back that worked fine. Rubbed some but nothing major.

I'd ditch the diff drop, it doesn't drop the diff at all it just rotates it a little bit. Waste of money IMO.

My 4runner had stock front ifs and 63 inch chevys. Now it has a low-lift SAS and 63s with 2 inch block and slightly longer shackles. Something as light in the rear as a Taco may sit too high in the rear but ymmv.

yea dave, but that's just because your running a old beat ass set of springs haha (I really dont know, I'm just bustin balls) would it even be the same situation for him as it is for you though? Being that his is an 01 and yours is the older style? i didn't know what changes happened between those years concerning the frame, suspension, spring mounting locations, etc... i'm sure you know better than I do. I'm sure the weight of the ass end would have a bit to do with it too

id toss the front on first and see where you are at.

I think that I'm gonna try installing the front and adding blocks as needed since it'll eliminate the guess work of finding a bastard pack that works. I'm gonna go with 32's or 33's for now.

If you go with 265/75/16s you dont need any lift at all...thats what I'm running on my truck with stock suspension.

As it sits now or in general?

I can take some if you want.

As it sits with those tires on it. As long as its not too much trouble

Check out adjustable billies. They are the same price your looking to spend on those spacers, and they'll treat you better since you're replacing what is probably a worn out strut already. Wheeler's usually has about the best price for them.

Plus, you could always resell them if you are only running them for the winter.

As for the rear, again, if you're only running this combo for a short time, why not go a block , but a good AAL is still cheap and a better option.
check Wheeler's for the AAL too: http://www.wheelersoffroad.com/9504tacoaal.htm
All can be easily installed in one day.

They have great customer service and surprising very quick shipping even from Oregon.

Another good option for 5100s is downsouth motorsports. They'll even give you a discount if you're a member on toyota boards...I'm on tacomaworld and ttora and I *think* they're vendors at both places. Just call em up saying you're a member and you'll get a bit more taken off.
