For the guys that ride dirtbikes around here... what tire do you like to run? I figured it couldn't be a bad idea to ask people who live in the same part of the country and ride similar terrain.

I was thinking an intermediate tire. I'd like a soft/intermediate tire, but I think it would wear off too quick. I really liked the maxxis maxx cross intermediate tire:

That was what I planned to get. When I was at the local bike shop the other day, the kid at the parts desk couldn't stop telling me about how much he loved the Pirelli scorpion xcms's (and we actually ride on the same trails... but i dunno if he's full of b.s. or not, don't really know him all that well)

They do look pretty mean. I looked at a front one when I was at the bike shop and looks like it would bite pretty well in the turns. I dont think I would mind running a scorpion up front and a maxx cross out back.

But I dunno, the last set of Pirelli's i had wore off pretty damn quick, so i said i wasn't going to buy them anymore (can't remember what it was at all, someone gave me a free new rear at the time). The last tire I ran was a kenda millvale and I love it, but can't seem to find it in a 100/100-18 or a 110/100-18.

Anyways, what do you guys think is the best all around tire for our SW PA terrain?

Dunlop mx51 is our best seller in the intermediate. Lots of bite but they're a little soft (good traction but wear faster). I run Bridgestones sometimes too, they seem to last a little longer.

m404 rear - available in 100/100-18 or 110/100-18
m403 front - available in 80/100-21 or 90/100-21

I've been running these for the last 6 months and have gotten really good wear, they should last me all summer long if I stay off the roads. They seem to get great reviews online as well. I usually keep them in stock, may not have them for an 18" wheel, I'll have to check.

hmmm... well I was starting to get a little partial to the maxxis's... but do you have those michelin's in stock in my sizes Tom? I didn't plan ahead very well, but Id like to ride the bike tomorrow and it would be awesome if I had some new meats on it. I can bring my wheels out there after work

The only 18" I have in stock is the MX51 in intermediate. I can do $200 for the pair installed after tax, disposal, etc. We close at 5 today, will be open 10-4 tomorrow.

Seems like mx51's are the only intermediate tire that any shop likes to stock lol I ended up getting those. I'm diggin em so far. It was nice not having my front end want to wash out on me constantly lol

Heres the mx51 next to the old trackmaster

Now if this damn snow would phuck off, I could ride it some more! I did put a set of holeshots on my buddy's 250ex this weekend and he's lettin me keep at my house for a while, so I guess I can go rippin (if thats what you want to call it on a baby ass quad like that lol) on that in the meantime.
