Anybody have any recommendations for single day canoe trips east of the city? Living in Monroeville now. Ideally a 4-5 hour float. I don't have a paddling partner so it works out nice if I can drop the bike off somewhere, drive upstream, float down doing a little fishing, duck scouting, then beach and pedal back to get the truck. Or vice versa. Looking at maps, maybe the connemaugh, loyalhanna, or the lower yough or Mon?

The lower yough is nice and has a bike trail that runs beside the river.

Conemaugh and Loyalhanna both fit that bill. Fishing is great, West Penn Trail runs along the river. They're both 5 minutes from my house. If you need any more info just let me know.

Conemaugh/Kiskiminetas...Put in @Conemaugh Dam and take out at Saltsburg boat launch. 3-6+ hour trip depending on breaks, paddling, fishing. The fishing is great. There are no towns between launch-take out. The West Penn Trail runs from Saltsburg to the Dam. Or you could put in a Saltsburg and get out in Avonmore. Not bad, shorter trip, but for fishing I prefer the first trip. The last trip is the longest. Put in @ Avonmore and get out in Apolla. The fishing is probably equal to the first trip. Lots of deep, slow water. The first trip is faster, more current. The Roaring Run/ West Penn Trail runs directly beside the river. Last but not least, the Loyalhanna. You can put in @ the bridge below the dam and float to Saltsburg. The fishing is decent but the water is very shallow. This river is best for kayaks unless you run it when the water is up. Hope this helps.
