I made a nice deep scratch on a friend's tailgate and wanna fix it. The paint is gone from the scrape area, but its not toooo awful bad and its not dented. It was just a scrape from a cement block and the whole affected area is about the size of a quarter.

I was going to try to use some dupli-color touch up paint to fix it. PLEASE tell me that someone has used this before with some success? I figured I could maybe wetsand the area a little bit, dry it, put the touch up on, wet sand again to blend, then 3 stages of wax/glaze or whatever.

Thoughts? Think it will work? Any better ideas than taking the tailgate off and actually repainting it?

Meh... Dupli-color is as good to half-ass it with, as anything else! :023:

I half-assed half a bumperon my wife's Caravan with Dupli-color, when she rubbed it on our driveway wall! http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/5844/facepalm.gif

duplicolor is gonna look halfassed at best ...yor gonna need to wet sand it out with 400-600 grit an then go alittle larger surface area with 1000-1500g to try an get a color to blend out .. im pretty sure it gonna look like someone spray bombed it outside so i hope your buddies truck isnt too nice
