Thinking about a new shotgun

Thinking about getting a new shotgun. Primarily will be used for waterfowl hunting. It has to be tough, it will be stuck in the mud, used as a paddle, used to beat ducks and brush and most likely submerged a few times. Im leaning towards the browning BPS or the benelli supernova? Anyone have any input on either? Im not a fan of semis as they all jam or dont cycle at one time or another.

Benelli M3... semi and pump convertible with the flip of a switch. Best of both worlds.

Just tossing out an idea with the M3 option. Of course, I don't think you can get it camo if you care. I went pheasant hunting last week with a pistol grip (with stock) and 20" barrel Benelli (M2). What I'm saying is, the M3 can be a nice home defense gun and hunting gun. Now you have a pump shotgun, auto loading shotgun and home defense shotgun.

I have a BPS Stalker and the shiny one and they have both been great guns. One of the smoothest pumps but they seem to have a slightly longer stroke than most. They are a minor pita to single load as you would for trap and skeet.

Ive seen a lot of Benellis running in 3gun. They have a good action that is being cloned all around the world.

Stop in at Duke's Sport Shop on 422 going to New Castle. They had some nice shotguns in stock and seemed fair on pricing. I was looking at a Turkish Pump Action there. I can't remember the brand off the top my head.

Semi, but have seen a few pump users that run it well.

Nothing, aside from a finish that rusts before you get it out of the box and the fact that 99% of them sold are the Express model which has cheaper, plastic parts. I would only buy a used 870 at this point.

Exactly....much like everything else, they don't make em like they used to

The BPS is, btw a John M Browning patent that was originally sold to Ithica who has sold it as the Model 37, which is a great shotgun as well. Browning made some tweaks and started producing it as the BPS long after Ithica.

BPS is a fine shotgun. Ive shot alot of them and they are great shooters.

Thanks for the input. Pretty much set on a BPS. Now to find one locally. Black synthetic, 26" ventilated rib. 3" or 3-1/2. Any help woild be appreciated. Have a trip planned to the Chesapeake bay in two weeks.

I purchased that exact BPS (3 inch)at Dicks about 7 years ago for $299 on an end of season deal.

I also found a Hastings rifled barrel on on Ebay for it.

Dick's wanted $639 for it yesterday. Had to order it of course. I was thinking it should be around $550 new.
