So, obviously I haven't been building/wheeling/working on jeeps as much in the last year or two. I kinda got a little burnt out but last summer I picked up another ride that I have always wanted since I was a kid. I found a "project" on craigslist last july and drove home a 1980 Camaro with T-tops, a healthy 350 and some sweet turbine wheels! the th350 was not my style so I found a 4 speed setup, that was awesome, but I wanted overdrive so this winter I put in a TKO600 5 speed trans and a 3.42 posi rear with disc brakes. the body is pretty solid but I did some floor repairs and put in subframe connectors too. I also ditched the crppy red interior and redid it up in all white. I did all the work myself and even made my own door panels! heres some pics.

floors were a bit crustier than I thought but I got a good solid fix and tied the rear springs, rear subframe and bodyside into the subframe conector

justin, i'd just like to point out, i've refrained from mullet jokes... but... once the flood gates open... i'm not sure if i can restrain myself....

Yeah, I am dropping it and putting 17" rockets on it and Setting it up for pro touring but that's some big money. I am going to stay white but do maybe something more pearl metallic.

I reupholstered the old seats as the frames and buns were good.

Eh I owned a 25th anniversary ( 92 IIRC, had the wing and hood scoops and all) and I didn't have a mullet. But I got shit for it all the time. LOL Mine was also white, with t-tops, and also had a red interior. I just wish that car was a manual. I was just busting your stones as you know.

Oh yeah, it's all good. Dunbar is all over my shit all the time about it. Manual is the only way to fly in a street machine, nothing like hitting the 4 barrels and smackin gears!

Well Mine was the TPI. But I still would rather it have been a stick. How is the body flex with the t-tops? Mine would twist up pretty good.

I am running art Rasmussen style frame connectors solid body bushings and front subframe to cowl g-braces, those mods virtually eliminated flex. It used to flex like one of those tools from the jersey shore lol.

I still think the 3rd gen is the best looking Camaro ever. We had two, 87 TPI 350's one white, one red and a red 92 25th anniversary ed. Firebirds are a toss up between the first and 4th gen, but they look better than the Camaro in every generation but the 3rd. I still say GM should have killed buick and left the Excitement in their line up. LS engines may be the shit but what they wrap them in leaves a lot to be desired.

I actually prefer the firebirds over camaros. This was just too great a deal to pass. As far as body style, I love the first and second gens above all, then the new ones, then the blackbird t/a only made in 2002 iirc. I never could get excited about the 3rd and 4th gens even though those were the years they actually started making good progress with fuel injection, impressive power and modern braking/suspension and driveline.

I have two big influences on my top two bucket list cars. (Smokey and the bandit) t-top second gen fbody, and a 68-70 charger (dukes of hazzard)

Nice choices. I missed the deal of a life time. In 05 when i bought my house. A guy down tbe road pulled out his 69 Charger rt black 440 4. Spd that had bern parked since the 80s it was punched to over 500hp had 456 gear etc. $10k took it home. I shoulda bought it but i needed the $ to put on a house. It had to be worth 30k as it sit.

Sweet, good choice on the 8 ball shifter knob and gauge faces.
