Ok guys I have an inspection/repair question.
The pictures below are a spring perch on a 2001 Cherokee Sport 4 Door. I was doing some looking over for my neighbor before she sent it to get inspected and I found this.

Looking at it I think it needs to be removed and a new one welded in but I don't know much about what can be done with the repair in this particular location.

Can someone help me out with what we are looking at as far as repair?

Thank you.

That is pretty bad. Maybe get a newer junkyard axle?

Well hell...does anyone have one laying around? I believe it is 2001.

Pretty much any D30 should work, at least after the vaccum disconnect days, which IIRC is post 92?

So how dumb am I? I forgot that my brother's Jeep is in my garage. He isn't going to be driving for a long time and I was thinking of turning that into an offroad only rig.

So...he is losing his front axle and I will just fix this while it is out and beef it up a little bit.
Problem solved, now all I have to do is swap them :(

Not sure if it matters in this case, but don't forget the 2000-2001 XJ's went to a LP front axle.
