Buy a Jap bike and you'll never change anything but oil and tires.

Can't even comprehend a BMW bike (And I really dig BMW cars)

Go with a 500-650cc Jap dual sport and you'll have a blast.

Buy and American bike, and you dont have to change the oil, just keep filling it!

LOVE my R1100GS. Never done anything but throw tires at it and change the oil. One time the starter died but a motor shop was able to fix it for cheap. 88k miles and no major issues.

BUT I still have a Honda XR650L for the dirt because the GS and the F bikes are not well suited for trail riding. They're fine for fire tower roads and light offroading but the gearing is too tall and the bike too heavy for anything more.

I had a DRZ 400 SM it was a blast to ride and got my 245 up 103 on a long flat rd.

There is a Honda CRF 450x converted to supermoto with tag on Craigslist right now. That is a bad ass bike. I had one but for the dirt , lotsa power
