I am about to upgrade and buy a 2007 JK with a 2.5in lift on it currently. Before I bought it I wanted to know if it was possible to just switch out the coils for a set of 4in ones, or would I have to buy a whole new kit to install. This is probably going to have an impact on if I buy it or not. I looked into just buying coil spacers but they don't seem that safe. If anyone has them on there rig and has an opinion on them let me know.

Going to 4" you may need track bar relocation brackets and/or new track bars. Probably shocks too. Not sure about sway bar links or brake lines.

Why are coil spacers unsafe?

I ran coil spacers on my jk with no issues
you have to decide what you goal is with the Jeep and how much you want to spend
or this thread could go in any direction

^ Agreed. I ran 2" spacers on the cherokee. I think Rubicon Express use to sell them. No issues what so ever.

What's the reason for the coil upgrade? You going bigger in tire size? The JK can fit some big meats on it without having to lift it much. Low COG is the way to go.

4in of lift on a JK will also require driveshafts .

The plan was to try and be able to get 37's under there but there might not be any reason for them. I have 35's on my tj and they work fine i guess. Ill probably just go with eh coil spacers for now, thanks for the help guys

are you running 40's? because you can clear 37's with flats and 2.5" coils no problem.

at 4" make sure you have adjustable front arms too. you WILL require more castor.

also, like blair said, your driveshafts won't last at 4". I killed mine at 2.5" of lift.

and there's no reason to go that tall anyway.

cheapest flats you can buy and 2.5" of lift with 37's...
