Last night I stumbled on a YouTube video of someone who put a locker from the rear of a Volvo in his XJ front diff. I have never heard or this swap and it’s pretty interesting, has anyone ever don’t this? I’m guessing that you would have to completely reset up your front diff so I’m imagining it’s not a quick easy swap but would it (for the most part) bolt in?

Unless you know how to set up gears, I would rather toss a lunch box locker in the front.

Not saying I’m going to do it but I never heard of that before and thought it might be a cheap way to get a locker. I don’t know if I would want a lunch box locker in my dd from what I have heard but then again I haven’t drove one with it to know how it handles or how noisy it is. If I’m going through the trouble to install a locker I might as well regear and I’m not doing that with a puney Dana 35 real so it will most likely never happen or at least not anytime real soon.

Well I couldn’t watch the videos earlier because I was at work and after watching them I don’t think that’s the route I want to go. Thanks for the info.
Anyone running lunch box lockers on the street?

I used to have an 89 XJ I daily drove. I had a Dana 30 front and Dana 44 rear, both with aussie lockers. They only time I could tell they were there was driving slow and turning in parking lots because of the clicking sound, no bucking or anything. Only once did I have it drive straight forward with the wheels turned and that was pulling out of a driveway on cold wet pavement and smashing the gas. Never happened any other time.

Sounds like I need to start setting aside some $ for some jeep toys then. I have heard horror stories about running these lockers on the street but you hear horror stories on just about any mod...
Time to start looking for a D44a from a v8 WJ to swap in the rear. I have heard horror stories about those too but if I do the swap I would truss and skid plate it so I don’t think I would have to worry.

Aussie or Powertrax No Slip are the two you want to consider for the front end, relatively invisible when you're in 2WD

I have Aussie Lockers front and rear in my XJ on 35s. Never had an issue on the street. Some clicking but nothing else. Lunchbox lockers ftw!
