Changed out my motor mounts, you can see that they needed it in the second pic. Should raise the engine up enough to keep the HP pinion yoke from rubbing on the header downpipe.

I was debating on where exactly to weld the new shock tabs, and how to cut out he old ones with it over my head.
http://www.bigassjeep.com/pics/phoenix/5.27.05.c.jpg

Decided not to, obviously.

Found a new use for used latex gloves, capping off the brake line so you don’t end up with an empty reservoir, requiring you to bleed the whole brake system.

Isn’t this what it looked like about this time last year, while I was rushing to get out of there?

Took a rest for a few… mmmm… hammock….

Cut off the old shock mounts

Primered the rusty rock trails to paint them up.

Painted up the subframe.

Painted over the rusty door where I flopped it. I suppose eventually the whole Jeep will end up spray painted anyway.

Front driveshaft all painted up

The Finished Parts hanger.

Warn inner shafts arrived today, and ujoints, going to put that front axle together this weekend and hopefully get it under the Jeep. Shocks are to arrive on Tuesday.

Been at it for a couple more days. Here’s my driveway looking like a mess of jeeps yet again. Jeff stopped by, his hub was SHOT to the point I wouldn’t even be driving on it. Just so happens that I have Marks old hubs which I have no use for, so I gave him one and bolted it up. Problem solved.

Here’s some pics of Steve fixing up some welds on my rear truss, and welding on my new shock mounts. I really hope I measured right!

Ok, I have Warn inners, outers, and 760’s w/ full circle clips. Now for the whole.. assembly… thing…

I hate needle bearings. I really do.
http://www.bigassjeep.com/pics/phoenix/5.29.05.j.jpg

Found my magical box of Jeep stuff.
http://www.bigassjeep.com/pics/phoenix/5.29.05.k.jpg

Put the KC’s on the front. Ws hoping to fit 4 without it looking retarded or blocking air flow, but I can’t do it. Oh well, 2’s plenty.

I have a passenger side rearview mirror! Total cost: $2 at the hardware store for new springs. They’re not as strong as the stock ones, but they seem to do the job just fine.
http://www.bigassjeep.com/pics/phoenix/5.29.05.m.jpg

Shiny. Front shafts assembled, front shaft painted up.
http://www.bigassjeep.com/pics/phoenix/5.29.05.n.jpg

Pressing in new bushings into the rear lower control arms. Don’t ask why it took us forever. We were stupid.
http://www.bigassjeep.com/pics/phoenix/5.29.05.o.jpg

Went shoppppping
http://www.bigassjeep.com/pics/phoenix/5.29.05.p.jpg

Went paaaaaainting
http://www.bigassjeep.com/pics/phoenix/5.29.05.q.jpg

Cut off the stock steering stabilizer mount. It interferes with my steering, and I’d eventually like to do hydro assist that would require my own custom mount anyway. I’ve had no problems not running a stabilizer at all.

Some grade 8 hardware for the diff bolts that also hold the diff guard.
http://www.bigassjeep.com/pics/phoenix/5.29.05.s.jpg

I had to re-tap a lot of bolts, and cleaned off a ton w/ the wire wheel. Took hours.
http://www.bigassjeep.com/pics/phoenix/5.29.05.t.jpg

I was just practicing welding caps in on one of my old shafts with stretched yoke ears. Still hearing arguments for and against this, so I’ll reserve judgment on whether or not I’m doing it on my new front shafts until the last minute…

Got both rear axles painted up too. If it wasn’t supposed to rain tomorrow, I bet I’d have this thing sitting on springs. We’ll see what the weather lets me do.

http://www.bigassjeep.com/pics/phoenix/5.29.05.y.jpg

Lots of bolts and parts all shined up and ready to go!

Also took apart the used Warn hub conversion to inspect, and decided to get new seals and bearings just in case. Should arrive at Napa on Tuesday, so if all goes well I should be test driving on Wednesday! That’s if I can find a new 153x u-joint for my rear axle shaft. If you can believe it, I lost one of the caps from my Tom Woods gold seal u-joint, I’m not too happy about that. My local Napa stopped carrying Spicer (AHHHH ) so I might have to take a couple of hours tomorrow to drive to 4WDH to get a Spicer joint. I don’t like the no names, I break enough without running crap.
