In the last month I started only getting between 11.7-12.4 miles on my Jeep. A month ago I was getting better mileage. I did put bigger tires and a lift on, but that was last year, so they should have no affect on the new drop in mileage.

I wasn't using my heater or ac during the drop. I checked my air filter and it wasn't dirty but it's a K&N so I cleaned and oiled it for the heck of it. No improvement since. :smt090

Any idea of what would make my mileage drop lately? Is there anything else I should check or do to improve it?

Thank you for any assistance.

If you never have, five years sounds like a good time to change out the o2 sensor. Spark plugs wouldn't hurt, if they're the same age.

I was thinking about the O2 sensor. Thanks.

They are not cheap.... NOT AT ALL. If they are not throwing codes I wouldn't bother with them. You may want to try a bottle of fuel injector cleaner - it couldn't hurt. The spark plugs may help too (and are much, much cheaper.)

check the air pressure in your tires...

disco your battery. it'll reset everything, and you may notice an improvement. its happened to me, amongst others on the board.

I checked the air pressure. I'm running 32 or 33--I forget which.

You really think the battery would do that? :? I did have that battery terminal trouble about a month ago. Maybe that is what caused it? If you think it would be worth it for me to reprogram everything, I will try it!

Time for new plugs, wires, rotor cap

I've never seen an O2 sensor cause problems before throwing a code, but who knows.

It only has 33,000 miles on it. Does it need all that stuff already?

My old cherokee had an O2 sensor that always read over 1.0, and it never threw a code, but it was the useless renix/bendix whatever computer and I imagine if it had any reasonable computer in it, it would have.

Dunno. I am getting 17.5-18.0mpg on my 93 zj according to this morning's calculations.

I think DC calls for it at 30,000, but my FSM is back in pittsburgh, a lil' far away to check.
